London 2013
Inspired by John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, Studio Toogood has forged a prelapsarian world for designer 3.1 Phillip Lim’s new pop-up shop in Selfridges. The American designer’s latest collection is showcased on a utilitarian steel-frame structure, set against the backdrop of a rich tapestry depicting a raw primal landscape.

Verdigris patinated copper, iridescent green-hued mirrors and dark-green sculptural chairs contribute to the spirit of verdant lushness, while a sculptural element is introduced in the form of specially commissioned maquettes based on aspects of Milton’s work. Every aspect of the space is part of the Studio Toogood act of creation – even down to the bolts and clamps, custom-finished in a striking green patination and a glowing copper.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim pop-up shop is at Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street until November 2013 – catch it before the Fall.
